We can confirm that invitations to receive the COVID-19 vaccination have now started and local vaccinations are commencing this week. Invitations will initially be made via telephone and text message. Invitations will be sent gradually according to both the supply of vaccine from the NHS, and according to the priority groups set out by the Joint Committee on Vaccination & Immunisation. There is a Flu vaccine clinic on Sat 5th & Thursday 10th December for those aged 50 yrs and over. Please call for an appointment.
If you would like more information about how our flu clinics are running during the Covid-19 pandemic then please click here.
What Is Flu?
Flu is caused by a virus and tends to occur in the UK each winter. Flu is associated with symptoms such as a high temperature, cough, headache, sore throat and muscle pains.
For most people the symptoms of flu start to improve within a week
Who Should Have the Flu Vaccine?
Patients who are over 65yrs or in at risk group (see “who should have the flu vaccine”) are at a greater risk of serious complications from flu such as pneumonia and these patients should take up the offer of the flu vaccine.
If you are unsure whether you can have a flu vaccine then ask one of our staff who will be happy to advise you. To make sure that you don’t miss out on this opportunity to protect your health, we will be sending out letters to eligible patients when the flu vaccines are in stock.
If you are eligible for a flu vaccine but DO NOT want one then please inform a member of our Reception team or complete this form.
Flu Vaccine Clinics
Our main flu clinics are held at the surgery throughout September and October but further appointments are available until January.
All those over 65yrs (or who will be 65yrs before end of March 2020) and those in at risk groups are eligible to attend the clinics.
Please note: Appointments in flu clinics are strictly for flu vaccines only. Because of short appointment times and the number of people we will be seeing we cannot offer consultations for other medical problems.

If you think that you have flu or would like further information on the flu vaccine then either search for “influenza” on our patient information page or follow the links from NHS England - Flu and Flu Vaccine.
